Nutella Cheesecake + wishes for BFF + lil updates

I think that is the worst title evahh. #facepalm

whatever lahh.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Nutella.  Besides Marshmallows, it is also one of the sweetness overload food.(in my list)  I have no idea how did I make the decision to bake this cake.  Ohh, maybe it was because of nutella's on sale at Coles.

My favourite part of this cake is the 80% dark cocoa curls strips that topped the whole cheesecake.  That's the only thing that can lower the level of sweetness.  It was a total disaster grating the dark chocolate, the weather was quite hot yesterday and I was holding this block of chocolate, another hand with the grater. After a while, my palm & fingers were covered by choc. woww fingers lickin' good.

It was the normal recipe that I used to bake a cheesecake. 2x250g Cream Cheese is the base ingredients.
If you know me well you will know that I love the biscuits crumbs layer to the max, so that layer must not be thin!  I added peanuts to enhance the crunchiness and since it is so called the Nutella Cheesecake, all components must contain Nutella!  Then I decided to add two tablespoon of Nutella into the biscuits crumbs bahahaha. By doing this, the amount of butter added was reduced by HEAPS. Yes, I dislike butter in the biscuits crumbs layer in my cheesecake. Butter is unhealthy.

-Urghhhh, cheesecake isn't that healthy tho, but... but at least we can try what we can do to make it healthier-

The other two layers are basically cream cheese.  I used light philadelphia Cream Cheese.  I poured the remaining 400g tub of Nutella into the cream cheese for the middle layer.  At the same time, I added chopped peanuts! (According to my friends, the middle layer tastes exactly like Ferrero Rocher.)

The top layer is another layer of cream cheese plus the biscuits crumble. hehehe, tell ya I love biscuits crumbs.  After chilling for 5 hours, apparently the middle layer was softer than the other two cos I didn't add any gelatines for the health's sake.  Therefore, I put it into the freezer for overnight!  The next morning when I took it out, it looked great but a lot more heavier.

Finally the middle layer had set.  hehehe.  Spent more than half an hour on cutting them and wrapping them for all my dear friends!

Wrapped them in aluminium foil and the cupcakes papers. Friends ended up eating the cakes during lecture and someone eventually consumed the metal Aluminium Al3+!

Of course, I ate one and only if I can reduce the sweetness of Nutella, this cheesecake would be perfect for me.

Perhaps I should write in to suggest a Sugar Free Nutella ayee.

Ohhh, and this is actually for the bff in Malaysia who is fighting for her final exams.  All the best and good luck! I will eat on behalf of you and you must concentrate on studies yeahh.

This short break on the wonderful Sunday was spent really well on baking.  The break between Week 7 and Week 8, time for us to grasp for air.  This week should not be too busy on studies, but not the cleaning and packing job.  Yes, I'm moving to another house next week! teehehehe. ehh, next week might be extremely busy with all the prac classes cramped in one week, and the bio mid-sem exams. :(

But anyways, I'm still looking forward to week 9.  Not only that it is the week before mid-semester break, it is also the week I gonna move to another house!

Ciao~

I love Uni. & here's another good news

YAYYYY. It's Friday. All glory to God, I survived the week! Of course, not to forget those crazy laughters that my friends and I had during lectures and classes.

Well, remember about the good news that I shared last week? Here comes the another one. The another twin of mine - the ugly duckling is coming to Brisbane soon!  Ohmygoshhhh I can't wait till the days us three are together again bahahaha. hey duckling I look forward to your arrival: your big face, your pimples, your long curly hair and your huggies.

I think we can be a great combination: your big face, E's small face and my medium face. *bahaha.

The moments that I've been waiting for! finally, please, 2014, treat me well with all these people around? fingers crossed.

2014-2018, we gonna rock Brisbane all over again, just like how we did in Chung Hua the 4S1.

So, uni's been treating me well so far, I love uni.  Perhaps these changes of mindset are caused by my 4 months long break after I withdrew from my previous course.  I enjoy uni now, and enjoy every single bits of it: the assignments, the exams, my group mates, my coursemates and my lecturers.  ahaha, although I always skip lectures, I still love my lecturers okay? blahh.

Assignment might be dreadful, but sometimes I do enjoy the late night moments, switching windows between chrome, microsoft words and microsoft powerpoint.  It is a few precious quiet moments that you can actually give your full concentration on your work.  I really enjoy that quietness after 2am: you even can hear the ticking of the clock! Nahh, to be able to do that, I need to get my adrenalin level rising, rising, keep on rising till it hits the peak..

Besides, Exams was okay, apparently i love assignments more than exams, but exams give you a chance, oh well, FORCE you to get back on track on what's going on in your courses.  Thanks to the mid-semester exams, or else I'll just put myself at that critical point where I need to hide myself in my room to catch up the lectopias throughout the whole semester before final exams.

okay lah, just a quick post about my uni life, and also sharing that extremely good news.  This will definitely make my weekend a colourful one.  What's on for weekend?  A few rewards for myself after this busy week: a Saturday's brunch & a catch-up dinner with the lovelies! Stay tuned!

The Good News

I blinked, and found myself in a high-ceilinged room. The jade sky outside that vintage window has gone. Wow, that was a two hours nap.

I looked at my phone.  There was an incoming msg.  I thought that was a dream. And I did something that I thought I will never do: slapping and pinching myself. OUCHH. Reality check, passed.

and W-O-W.  A REAL WOW.  Immediately I unlocked my phone, fingers were trembling that I couldn't unlock at the first attempt.. God hears our prayer everyday and finally, our dreams are about to come true!

Okay okay, calm down Clare.

I can't!

nahhh, it was from my bff in Malaysia, she has definitely brought me a good news. We've been thanking God a lot in our conversation as we believe this is the plan that God makes for us since years ago.

Continuing praying.. Pray hard pray hard pray hard.

The good news will be revealed soon. Pray for her kay! :)

Latin. May I? :D

The sky was not changing today.  It stayed cobalt blue throughout the day, if it was winter, I would be really glad as the sun can at least release heat and warm us up. But not today, the last day of winter, oops, it's the beginning of spring. I felt my skin touch the sun. I felt the heat and passion that spring has shown us the humans! Yes, spring has sprung! Yayy for that? oh I doubt it.

"Don't complain this complain that lah. Winter complain, summer complain, now spring also complain. aiyoyoo. somemore at malaysia also complain. "
for today is the National Day in Malaysia, let's show this little speciality of Malaysian English wahaha.

Life has to end, but love doesn't.

Ahh this might sound emotional, but note that I am not emotional right now when I am typing this. lol. I guess that is how a random thought strikes and you just gotta deal with it! hahaha, again, dealing with something?

Today's exams reminded me of the days we had our examinations in high school.  We could meet in the toilet after exams and discuss about the questions; we even moved the long benches from Form 2A to ours - 4S1. nahh sometimes we stole 5S1's bench. Everything's still clear in mind, but I can't see my friends' smile outside my classroom, bringing me past year exams paper/food/whatever.. Apparently those senses weaken! And another heightens - MEMORY.

Memory becomes our partner, we nurture it, hold it and dance with it.

Latin? May I? :D

No story sits by itself.

No story sits by itself. Sometimes stories meet at corners and sometimes they cover one another completely, like stones beneath a river.
-- The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom

Was reading this book while sipping my homemade cappuccino (will show you guys next time!).  Consumption of this caffeine does not necessarily mean that I am feeling groggy and tired.  Well, at least at this point, I am not. I just need something to boost up my mood. Study mooooood!

Chemistry exams will be on Saturday the 2pm. Oh why two PM, that is when everyone can get sleepy easily. But what to do, we just gotta deal with it.

It's just like how we deal with different people and stuffs around them. This includes the stories that they carry and of course those they are trying to hide. If they are like the stones beneath a river, they will soon be revealed within a timeframe. Don't panic, and don't ever try to throw more stones into the river to prevent that to happen. Perhaps that will help, but remember, when there's too much, river gets flooded and o-ohh - You will get the first glimpse of destruction.

-- Proceed to the next chapter: The third person Eddie meets in heaven.

p/s somebody please drag me to the study desk and throw the chemistry textbook in front of me please. Yes I am familiar with the timetable, the syllabus and the thing that I should be studying for, but I have no idea what's going on right now! I assume that is the punishment for not going to lectures? So kids, never skip lectures cos you know you will never ever ever everrrrrrrr listen to the lectopia.
nah that is just what I should/MUST do right now.

So, bye.

Corner Store Cafe @ Toowong

While there are numerous fine dining out there, some of these cafes are worth the attention too!  So yea my favourites are those brunches and lunches.

It was back in the beginning of August! I have never thought of going for brunch on a weekday, but my friend came out with this idea the night before and I said yes (I'll never say no to brunches ayeee?). Corner Store Cafe @ Toowong! We decided to have a meal there before our biology lecture. However, both of us ended up skipping that lecture -.-

Anyways, What's better than starting your weekdays (unidays) with your friend over caffeine (iced coffee), eggs, salad which makes up a scrumptious breakfast/brunch? and of course not to forget that unexpected, funny and somehow stupid conversation that are bathed in that beautiful sunlight. Oh well, that's how guys start a conversation.

Besides smoothies or frappes, coffees are also the best companion for brunches!
These are the cold brew coffee, according to the menu, it's brewed for 6.5 hours using the cold drip coffee maker. But nah forgive me for not being a coffee-expert, I think that's just normal iced coffee.

So yea, here's another latte in mug!

The cafe was busy. We were kinda surprised because it was a weekday and it was working hours! Apparently everyone's enjoying their weekdays. Like what we did bahaha.

The wait wasn't that long, perhaps we were not that hungry. So yea here's the foooooood!

Banh mi. It's like a bun with pulled pork belly, chicken liver, asians herbs & boiled eggs.
Ohmygoshhh this was soooo big heyy but maybe it isn't enough for a guy LOL

Crispy skin salmon with potato salad. Salmon lovers, go for this!

Marinated Chicken Salad. This was mine and I don't think it was a salad. I was so damn full after eating this! The chicken pieces were nice, they taste like the 'ka-cha-ma' chicken (Malaysian traditional food). Quinoa was awesome in extra virgin olive oil. Overall, I think my dishes was the best among all :p

We didn't get to try their breakfast menu as we reached there around 11am. Ahh their breakfast menu seems to be more tempting. Nah I will definitely visit Cornerstore cafe again for their breakfast!

Okay, back to study, mid-semester exams tomorrow :( Please pray for me! Ciao~ Corner Store Cafe on Urbanspoon

Week 6 (ohh this sounds like the sixth week of pregnancy -.-)

Hey. This is Week 6. (#ohmygoshhh I felt like I'm actually counting the week of pregnancy -.-) Remember I said I welcomed week 5?  Thank God it was treating me quite well, despite of I caught a cold and it dramatically transformed to a fever plus headache at the end of the week. That was the most serious flu/fever I have got since I settle down in Brisbane. What makes this to the worst was this coincidence: it was the first week of mid-semester exams.

Anyways, after swallowing two pills and a 17hours sleep, I eventually recovered bahahaha. I wondered what pills had I taken, but whatever, I am healthy now! And ready for the mid-sem exams?

I hope so la.

Yea okay, gtg, 250 more bio questions waiting for me and I must complete them by tonight!!!! oh well, by tomorrow morning I guess. No more sleep for tonight, am pretty sure I can do it!
Yes, WE can do it, best of wishes to that friend out there, you told me not to give up, so let's work till the end together! :)

Anouk Cafe @Paddington

Finally we had a chance to continue our Saturday brunch-hunting journey.  This time - Anouk Cafe! Anouk is located between those steep ridges and hills. Feeling terrible driving in Paddington: look at those steep hills!!!

Saturday-the only day with alarm off. So, we ended up having lunch instead of brunch cos we reached there around 12pm. It was very busy around that time, everyone's enjoying their Saturdays!

You can choose to sit in the cafe or outside along the street. To be honest, the atmosphere in the cafe is nice (I love their written menu on the board, goshh the handwriting is so neat! How I wish our lecturers can write neater...) However, it was quite hot that morning so it turned up to be very stuffy in the cafe. We didn't want to sit outside because of the sunlight!

Too hot, so no more coffee for brunch (Normally I have skinny capp for brunch)
I had the mango, pineapple, orange and passionfruit fruit shake (I requested them to not to include banana in the skake. aahah) Myra had the soda drink which contains raspberry and mango. Her drink might not seem photogenic but nice to taste.

Finally! We weren't impressed by the slow service. We waited for like half an hour until our food came.
I got the omelette and Myra had the open steak sarnie served with haloumi, bacon, egg, onion, beetroot jam(YUMM) and sweet curls.

There was a hint of pink in the very middle of the steak so we supposed that was cooked to medium-well. At first we thought the meat will be very dry but it was juicy! *It was a bit chewier by the way.. The beetroot jam was YUMMM. The star of this dishes isn't the steak but the baked sweet potato curls. They were thin and crispy..

It was my first time having omelette at cafes cos that's something that we can simply make at home.
Well, I don't like it as it's too oily and cheesy.. It's nice to have a few bites only. The sourdough was terrible #omggg

We'll definitely come back for the sweet curls but not for the brunch! I should try their coffee during my next visit. Coffee defines how good the cafe is, right?

Ciao~ Off to work. Accidentally deleted my 1100 words which was my hardwork throughout the day. Lesson learnt.

Week 2 - Food VS Studies

Uh-huh, it's Monday again. I thought waking up at 6.30am for a 8am lecture is a nightmare, but somehow I didn't feel that hard dragging myself out from bed this morning. This week is gonna be a little bit easier compared to last week, hoooray for I don't have any practical classes this week! They are held once in 2 weeks; However, I'm actually looking forward to 'some' prac classes: observing cells is interesting hey! We were asked to look at the LIVE bull sperm cells under microscope last week and the excitement overwhelmed us when we found sth moving/swimming. Fyi, it's quite hard to find them cos they die faster under room temperature...

Nahh, just sharing how fun prac classes are! And so does uni. Well, the feeling of going back to school again...

Last week was a really tough week, but I got to meet up many long-lost friends!

Wednesday - Ian visited Brisbane!

We were classmates for two years and he travelled to Brisbane, so we decided to meet up! It's been two years since we last met.

We had dinner at Boatshed, Regatta Hotel. Both of us think that this is so far the best Australian steak that we've ever eaten.  I had the sirloin steak and he had the eye fillet. Mine was tooooo big so I was damn full after dinner. Then, we headed to Hamilton for Max Brenner. Now then I know Ian is a big fan of chocolates!!!

Thursday - Dinner with Anis & WeiLynn

We planned for a catch-up dinner since the first time we met in uni when sem2 started! Apparently both of them were excited seeing me back to uni again. Anis was craving for Korean food, so we had our dinner at Dodomi Korean Restaurant which is located at South Brisbane! It was hard to get a parking slot along the street and hey I suck in S-parking.

I had meat-phobia after eating the large steak the night before, so I decided to go for the Grilled Mushroom Salad. The portion again shocked all of us. -.-

Malaysians halo we are Malaysians.

Coffee at La Dolce Vita! We needed caffeine to keep us awake throughout the night for assignments and stuffs. :(

Friday - Late night supper with Angie @ Bubbles n Clouds.

It was nice bumping into Angie on the way home from Uni in the afternoon, we chatted for a while after we got off the bus and decided to go for supper at night! I was in a hurry that night and we only managed to leave home around 9.40pm.

Bubbles and Clouds are a newly opened cafe along Zamia Street, Sunnybank!  They serve nice coffee and italian treats!! I do highly recommend their Bondi Club Chai Latte for the chai latte lovers out there.  It's quite a nice and quiet place to chill out at Sunnybank if you don't want to drive far into the city.

Chit-chatting the whole night and playing cards. Okay, I'm bad in playing the 'bullshit' game but I'm an expert in the heart-attack game heyy.

It was a really long night, we got home around 1am and were extremely exhausted!!!!!

To sum them all up, it was a truly blessed week, having fun with friends!!!

The one who was, who is & who is to come.

It's time to get back in balance. People've been questioning me how's my super long holidays been: was it fun/boring/lifeless. So I'm here to conclude my 4 months holidays.

To be exact it should be 6 months, it's gonna be the longest holidays in my life before my retirement I reckon...  Anyway, it took me a while to rediscover my SI-net and e-learning blackboard. It feels soooo good to back to study. *coughss, I hope this feeling lasts long.

Seasons came and seasons went. People approached and people left. Now I realised this is an ongoing process.  Perhaps this is how God show us something: who and what are worth to fight for. 4 months isn't that long, but for me it's more than enough to rest awhile and think wisely about something or someone.

Okay lah, I've been trying my best on this big project, a project that no one can help.

Now I understand why many girls have their own dreams in their heart... even the ones they've given up on and the ones that seem so distant.  I often question myself, what's my boat? Is it a boat of indecision? There's probably something crying out.  Well, just get up and get out of the boat. Get going. live an easy life by stop dreaming, whining and moaning about it.

Hahahaha. Now it's so damn funny to read back what I've written four months ago... I'm pretty sure I have the TOTAL freedom from the torment of this confusion. So, instead of making everything so difficult, why don't simplify my life and enjoy the rest that comes through following God's plan?

Hey you there, thank you for being the mentor, the one who was, who is, and who is to come..

A day trip to Bribie Island 130713

Let's HOORAY for the last week of holidays, orientation starts and uni gonna start next week.. It has been a really long holidays for me and am actually looking forward to the busy days. However, I guess I will soon take back my words when uni actually starts.. Anyway, we'll see.

Just got back from a gathering and movie session! Pacific Rim is fantastic. Thumbs up for that. It's cool, as in 'high-technology-based'! Without a doubt I love movies which are related to technology; apparently Man of Steel isn't that category. Cos I think that movie isn't as nice as what I was told.

ok lah let's get back to the topic. Last Saturday was a REAL happening day. It was our church fellowship Winter BBQ day and later on we made a trip to Bribie Island!

Before that, we spent a while at Redcliffe since the weather was great.

Okay lah. Actually we wanted to shoot a photo like the Taiwanese movie 'You are the apple of my eye' 那些年

Not bad what.. We're like advertising Coca Cola!

We walked along the beach around 3pm and the sunlight was the strongest..
It didn't seem like a winter afternoon.
Whatever I think I've put on weight after Tasmania trip and haven't been eating clean (as in no fried food & snacks). I felt so unhealthy right now!!!!!
As you can see my face is expanding. Apuhhh.

When there's sun, make a full use of it.
I love taking photos of our shadows! and love. <3 p="">

On the way to Bribie Island! It was a long trip and I was so sick of driving after that day.

We googled about the sunset in Bribie and somebody actually said that the sunset in Bribie is the best in Queensland... It all depends on the scenery la I reckon, like Bribie has nice beaches, that's why sunset looks great! There's not much difference sunrise and sunset right.. hmmm

 Group photo!!! :D

And we had steamboat for dinner on the rooftop! Too much food for 5 people, so we had lots of leftovers...

Too full to move..

It took us an hour and a half to get back to Brisbane; it had been a long and tiring day but we had lots of fun! The laughters that I will never forget..

Lights off. Bedtime.

Lights off.

What's so good about sleeping?
You get a chance to get rid of EVERYTHING. You give your brain a basic idea on how you want your dream to be, but, apparently your brain can't get your hint sometimes.

I'm a good sleeper to be honest, I seldom have insomnia. I can fall asleep in one minute; and if I can't, I enjoy the time hallucinating (BAHAHA) or just day-dreaming.. Hey sometimes, the story continues in your dream... Until the freaking annoying whatsapp alert/phone ringtone/alarm wake me up.

It was this morning, I was annoyed by my iPad... It was on my stomach & I felt the vibration as there were some notifications coming in.. And the vibration from my phone as well.. It was beside my head... Goshh, I will die due to radiation?

uh-huh, just a random post.

Good night.

Happy 19th birthday to me. I'm feeling 19 !

yayy, so I just had my birthday. I'm 19.

19 is so near to 20! haha, I feel like 20 anyways, hitting 25 soon and 25 is just like 30.

I was 18, and 18 was like yayy finally it's legal to drink & enter the casino? But hey I still remember my dad fed me whisky during his CNY party when I was 9 years old. and I ruined his party, cos I ended up vomiting. nah!

ohmygoshhh, I WAS 18.

ok lah, i'm not complaining here that I am old, it's just a feeling that: oh people I've grown up.

Yes lohh I've grown up, I've grown prettier (oppps) and of course my brain grows bigger so I'm wiser, perhaps?

whatever lah, age is a matter of number, and number is number, birthday is just a 'birth'-day.

Anyway I really enjoyed my 19th birthday, like how I enjoy my birthday since my existence in this world. The most important part of birthday is I can feel how blessed I am. Family is sweet, & friends are awesome.

Just like Sheryl Chai who texted me happy birthday a week before my birthday and promised that she will greet me everyday till my exact birthday. Apparently she failed to do so and I'm still waiting for her song LOLLL.

Of course there're some touching wishes from my parents. Mom said, 'the best gift that she has given to me is giving birth to me 19 years ago.' :') Besides, my siblings sent me a video and yea they are sooo cute! Dad was in the video too!!

Not to forget that bunch of friends who gave me the birthday shock/surprise in front of Max Brenner, Southbank. I burst into tears that moment, because I was shocked.. okay lah, a little bit touched hahaha. And also, it's the first birthday with random people singing happy birthday song for me. People in Brisbane are way too friendly, so thank you!

What's so special in my 19th birthday? I celebrated it in Tasmania instead of Brisbane! I conquered Mount Wellington when I'm 19!!! YEAHHHHHH. (a little self-excitement). To be honest I'm so lucky to spend my birthday with them. Knowing that they spent their time to come up with the absolute plan to surprise me, acting this and that and etc... I love the fruit tarts & macaroons!

For those who'd called and sent me text messages, thank you! Thank God I managed to print screen all the messages for memories. Those warm & stupid wishes, ohh too blessed lah!!!

Last but not least Thanks for the presents. To be honest most of the time I enjoy giving gifts instead of receiving gifts. Sometimes I just feel like it is too expensive or I just don't deserve that? But I do love all the handmade cards & crafts!!!

Ohhh, and a letter that I received few days ago. This crazy person eventually confessed to me and attached my face sketch. The sketch was a failure because my face looks way tooooo chubby and that's not true. ( hmmmm ) Okay lah, I should praise for the absolutely pro chinese.

So... 19 years old! That's it!!!
One of my birthday wishes is to do something really special this year!
and the other two are secrets.. nah normally those have higher probability of coming true right? hahaha.

So happy 19th birthday to me again!!!!!!!!! and 20nd in eleven months. bahaha.

Rare Pear @Holland Park

More posts to come! Stay tuned, but this one gonna be Food again. Told ya I'm in a relationship with Mr Foodie bahaha.

This was ages ago (during summer time), we went to Holland Park for our Saturday's brunch. We didn't want to drive further down to Brisbane City so we searched the brunch spots around south suburbs.. At last we decided to give it a go at Rare Pear as it has a pretty high rating on Urbanspoon!

It was a busy morning, we waited for approx. 10 minutes until we got a table. Their service was awesome.
They serve all day breakfast and of course the lunch!  We ordered our meals from the lunch menu as we were both starving.

 The Banana Milkshake
Errrrmm, apparently they use the banana syrup. and I don't really like it.
(Anyway, I'm not a big fan of banana. I hate it LOL)

 Scallops Risotto.
THIS IS NICE. really. Thumbs up.
The scallops were fresh! The combination of scallops, risotto and parmesan cheese is superb.

Calamari with pear salad and goat cheese.
I love the goat cheese, especially having it with the pear and spinach. yumyummm.

Also, the price is very reasonable!!! I'll definitely go back for a breakfast/lunch anytime soon as it is located near my sister's house. Reservation is recommended as it gets real busy during weekend.

p/s Surprisingly there are a lot of nice brunch cafes around south Brisbane. We shall start to explore in our semester two heyy! :)

Ciao~
