Fat Noodle, Brisbane CBD

YAYY for the second day of uni! well, I didn't manage to wake up for 8am lecture. (see the difference between 8am class and 9am class?!)

This gonna be a post about FOOD again. hehe.
Fat Noodle is a new asians restaurant located at the ground level of Treasury Casino Hotel.  Normally kids under 18 years old are not allowed to enter any restaurants at the hotel, but this restaurant has two entrance! so all ages can enter!!

They serve Jasmine Tea for all tables, unless you order any other drinks.
I love the Jasmine fragrance! It's pretty strong.

The atmosphere is quite cosy as well. Apart from that the interior design is special, with woks and chopsticks on the ceiling!

Some prefer to sit at the balcony, watching that busy Queens Street.

Dad ordered HaiNanese Chicken Rice.
Rice was okay, but the chicken wasn't. It's tough and dry.

The entree, best among all the dishes. Especially the salt and pepper tofu!

Thumbs up for the congee! I don't really like rice/congee but seriously I'm falling in love with this.

My Vietnamese Chicken Salad accompanied by the grounded peanuts, which in turn boost up the crunchy-ness! (Cabbage is crunchy and fresh hehe)

Stir-fry pho. It's like malaysian char-kuey-tiaw.
I don't really like it because it tastes sweet; there's tomato sauce i reckon.

The bar at the other side of the restaurant.

Mom's Singaporean Laksa.
Urgh, all of us don't like this. It isn't spicy at all; I guess there's a whole lot of milk in the broth.

Ending this post with this cute photo! My superwoman with the lion
Yes, we went there on the third day of Chinese New Year! :D

In a nutshell, I will definitely visit Fat Noodle again for the Chicken Salad and tofu! It's considered as fine dining, so it's a bit pricy. but worth to try!

Do remember that the entrance in front of casino closes at 10.30pm! Everyone wants to go to the restaurant will need to enter the casino first.

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Hi there! It's the first day of uni, a wet rainy and windy day. Luckily my outfit of the day was like casual with shorts and thongs on. It's like washing my own feet while walking today. Not forget to mention that it's freezing cold today, hey it's summer oh Brisbane.

I bet everyone's exhausted today, nah, these lovely sweet hearts to cheer you up!

Anyways, I'm late for this, I'm always late urgh. Happy Belated Valentine's Day! We celebrated our valentine's day 'asian-ly'. Instead of western meals, we cooked our own Malaysian meal. Yes, it's super yummy.

Will never forget heart-shape beef on Valentine's day.
Apparently this was a failure. It only looked like a heart at certain angle, as you can see, with a scar on it. (HAHA)
It's Braised Gravy Beef!

And the veges with lots of garlic as toppings!

As well as the overnight chicken curry
I personally think that overnight curry tastes a lot more nicer, especially the potatoes!

The candle night was on again.
Candles from the Reject Shop.

Happy belated Valentine's Day once again! It was Chinese's Valentine's Day yesterday (Chap Goh Mei), so it isn't too late to greet I reckon? :P I'm hereby wishing all the couples out there: stay sweet! (specially for my buddies in msia HAHAHHAHA!)

Well, it's quite awkward, speechless & funny when they asked me what to do on Valentine's for their partners. Nahh! like i'm an expert?!

Ciao~ Gotta catch up some lecture works! (As a consequence of falling asleep during lecture. :/)

Bff

Do you know exactly what you want?  How do you define best friends; and how do you treat your bff.

It was a really short conversation, a random one I can say.

I started off the topic by saying that we didn't really 'stick' together when I was back in Malaysia for holidays.

And the question came along, do best friends need to be together always? Shoulders with shoulders, that's the definition given to bff?

Both of us agreed that best friends don't need to be together always, it's all about trust, love and the willingness to share everything. Even if two friends 'stick' together like every second, that doesn't mean they are best friends, to others they might be, but, who knows?

We are miles apart. We don't really whatsapp/text/skype.  It just comes all in a random way, when I'm walking on the street, I feel like hearing her voice, I will just call her no matter what time is it. (yeah normally she's in class but she still picks up the phone and whispers! Then she hangs up the phone within 30 seconds without listening to what I'm talking about -.-); 'OI' is how we start our whatsapp conversation and yeah we talk crap, so sometimes we just end up not replying each other (haha); We skype, not often. and somehow we enjoy the silence between us.

Day Trip @Redcliff

Yes I'm here again.. O-week has started but I skipped today's session (*bang!) Uni life gonna be real busy, not sure I will have time to blog or not. studying plus working. this is life.

I scribbled down, 'picnic, sunbathing & swimming at the beach' in my tiny cute diary 2013. and finally there comes the Redcliff trip! We were kind of lost on deciding between Redcliff and Surfers Paradise. We really wanted to go to the Surfers @ Gold Coast but I m not brave enough to drive there (after analysing the streets on google map).  Going onto the highway isn't a big problem but driving around the city is. Those complicated streets!

It took us around an hour to reach there, thanks Myra for driving. (Supposed to be me driving that day HAHA) We headed to Morgans Seafood Stall for our lunch cos we were starving.

We ordered the Fisherman's basket with scallops, prawns and fish as add-ons.  The seafood was really fresh and not oily as well! The only thing I wasn't impressed was the sauce.

Later on we went to the beach!
The weather was awesome but looked like it's gonna rain anytime, so we did our photo-shooting as fast as possible. snap snap snap...

Yes it rained after half an hour, we ran back to the car and waited for the rain to stop. but... it didn't. sad case.

That chubby face of mine!! urgh.

Then we went to the another beach with jetty! This is the place I went last time, (Checkout my first trip to Redcliff: Good Friday Picnic)

The 'dead' jellyfish.

It wasn't a long day spent at Redcliff but we're satisfied! Next one at Gold Coast! I gonna dare myself to drive there. (Hah)

p/s I think I miss out something in this post but I can't recall. Geez, I spent an hour writing about this trip just now and then blogger.com told me there's an error. everything's gone. words and pictures gone. All is gone. So this is the second draft of this post.

ciao~

Happy 9th Birthday, Fritz!

It was my little brother's birthday two days ago, but we celebrated it few days earlier since we were all together in Brisbane for Chinese New Year. We didn't know where to go for dinner because it was during the night and my parents reckoned it wasn't that safe to let my sister travel by bus (the car has only 5 seats and a family of six can't fit in).  So we ended up having dinner at the city.

The cutie pie wanted to eat both Japanese and hotpot, so after research we went to the Japanese ShabuHouse which is located along Mary Street.  It's kind of buffet, $18.90 for kids and $32.90 for adults.  (It was $30 last year!)  Didn't take photos at the restaurant cos we were all starving.

After that we went back to the hotel for cake! (He was worried of us embarrassing him at the restaurant cos we wanna sing birthday song for him)

He's now a 9 years old boy.
Fritz with his birthday gift from daddy.  The FOSSIL watch.

I got this cake from breadtop!  It's the Chocolate Mousse Cake, we requested them to reduce the amount of sugar as my brother doesn't like over-sweet food.
(A ten-dollar extra for that soccer ball)

The best mousse cake I've ever eaten so far.

Chips off the old block.

Last but not least, a big shout-out to my dearest Fritz Chua, Happy belated birthday!!! JieJie loves you always although you refuse to accept my love :(

Que Huong Vietnamese & Chinese Restaurant @Darra

Dining out on Saturday has somehow become our weekly routine now, to reward ourselves from cooking so hard during weekdays (cooking isn't a big deal but cleaning is).  We decided to have Vietnamese cuisine and did some research online. After reading lots and lots of reviews we went to Que Huong Restaurant for dinner!

The address is actually 139 Darra Station Road but I set the GPS on 39 and ended up driving to the restaurant with wedding party on.

It is a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant; it was quite noisy but we love the atmosphere there. (That's how Chinese have their dinner I reckon.)  Reservation is recommended!  We didn't call in and book but luckily we got a table upstairs. It was almost full when we arrived.

 Venison in XO Spicy Sauce

Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab
(I'm falling in love with this)

Sambal KangKung!
So Malaysian ayee!

Thumbs up for the dinner, despite of the long wait for the dishes.  I will definitely visit again (well, I decided to go for lunch tomorrow HAHA).  The price is reasonable: It isn't too expensive compared to others Vietnamese and Chinese Restaurant.  In fact, it serves fresh and cheaper seafood!

After dinner we went to Mt Co-otha! I'm done with the challenge! Driving up to the highest point of Brisbane!!! I was too excited apparently and failed to park my car along the downhill slope (It was way to scary cos your car can actually go forward instead of backward on REVERSE)

It was raining on the mountain so it was very cold up there with the wind blowing.  Thank God I have my new denim acid-wash jacket on!  Poor Myra and Nick, they didn't have any outerwear on.

A cup of flat white to keep myself warm.

Well, and now I can't sleep, caffeine overdosed. That's why I'm writing this I guess.  Sorting out photos that we've taken during our trip to Redcliffe!  Stay tuned!

Ciao~  Happy Sunday!

so, just a quick drop by to greet everyone a merry cheerful Valentines! Celebrate it with your loves one, including your family and friends kay!

Words flooding

You're half way through this week!

Warning alert: words flooding, no pictures!

Sit back and recall all the things that happened after I got back in Brisbane: revel in them, and realise that-that giddy anticipation of life is still fiery in my belly!

Two weeks to the first day of uni life.  The sign-on session is in two hours time, ohgoshh, I'm so nervous, well, after listening to my friends' past experience. haha, I tried to sign-in my SI-net just now and it was darn slow! Guess everyone's starting to log in and sign on for their courses these few days.

Timetable allocation is annoying, very.  I re-arranged them for, like at least 7 times already and I can even remember which classes on which days by now.  Finally I get my Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday finishing at 2pm (YAYY for this, hard work paid).  However my Thursday is terrible, non-stop lectures, two pracs and tutorials with only one hour break in between, from 9am to 5pm.

Anyway, what more excited is my family's coming over today! I offer myself to pick them up from the airport but somehow dad doesn't believe my driving skills so yea, he asked me to drive to city instead of airport. nah dad! driving to city is more dangerous kay there are so many cars over there. Pray hard. Luckily I don't need to drive into that 'tiny' underground carpark.

So I gonna spend my Chinese New Year with my family in Brisbane! First time ayee, I still miss the CNY in Malaysia, where the good food is and the awesome people are.  Pineapple tarts, bak-gua, kuih momo, a-car, seaweed crackers etc, etc, aww all those good food!

Nahh I was extremely excited yesterday!

Firstly, shopping for my wardrobe.
The leather jacket that I bought online from Topshop has arrived; More online-shopping on ASOS-and I bought three sweaters (aww especially the knitted one); In addition, we got free express shipping! Hopefully I can get them by tomorrow cos express shipping only takes two working days; Continuously viewing Topshop website and now they ship to Australia for free on orders over EU50! I should stop shopping by now, but then mom rang me and told me that she wants one of the bag on Topshop. (HEY MOM!) Guess once I meet up my mom later, we gonna spend our night viewing topshop website.

And now I'm glancing over the scarves section.  I'm ready for winter aye?

Then, we bought our air tickets to Sydney in the coming holidays! (April) The air fares actually drop after 24 hours, and we got the return tickets for AUD89.90, I just can't wait for our Sydney Trip.

Last but not least, I got really really happy because we had lotus root soup and beef rendang for dinner. hahaha sounds silly huh but yes!  I really love lotus root soup!

First week in Brisbane

The first week in Brisbane, I'm not baby-sitting my sister anyways, since she lives far away from me (home stay). But I do felt like i'm a 24 hours driver, she's been asking me picking her up from school/shopping centres because of the terribly hot weather.  Nah, actually I sent her home twice only bahaha.

The normal daily routine: Brunch, online, movies, dinner.

I have my dinner at my friend's house now cos we are all alone at this moment, then we decided to cook and share the food together! (like a really small potluck i can say LOL) And then not to forget the movies session after dinner, so far we have watched like.. seven or eight movies, mostly Singaporean Movies.

Family's coming over soon!!! Countdown, 2 days. I got everything planned, hopefully dad's not going to ban my ideas. Looking forward to our reunion dinner in Brisbane! (Last year in Taiwan), aww we seriously miss the reunion dinner at the small town in Song, Sibu (the place where my dad's from)

Ciao.
